David McCallum

Managing Director

David is a registered and award winning builder who has been in construction for over 30 years. He founded DDB Design in 1991 and is a director of the company. 

David is passionate about improving the lifestyle of clients through the homes that the company builds. And he is committed to making building an enjoyable experience for all involved.

 He takes great pride that DDB Design has a reputation as one of Melbourne’s premier residential building companies.

Interior Designer

Maryanne Quealy

Interior Designer

Maryanne is a director of DDB Design, and she joined the company as interior designer in 1994.

Previously, she worked in the fashion industry as Head Designer for National Brand Companies 1980 to 1994.

Although conscious that there is always a budget, maryanne's focus is to ensure DDB Design interiors are primarily design driven to ensure that each project reaches its full potential as a higher end luxury home with up to date, very livable, interior selections. 

Maryanne has a degree in Textile Design from RMIT Melbourne and an Arts degree (Italian Language) from Monash University.

Admin Manager

Sharon Archer

Admin Manager

Sharon has been part of the DDB Design Team for over eleven years and is responsible for all office administration, payroll, building quotations and client communication.  Her excellent organization skills and passion for helping others ensures that all of DDB Design’s projects run smoothly and harmoniously.

Sharon loves spending time in the garden and walking her dogs.

JOSHUA MARSHALL

Project Manager

Josh joined DDB Design in 2019 after being involved in the construction industry for the past 18 years.

During this time, Josh has been involved in residential and commercial construction management, national management of head subcontractors and more recently moving into business development.

Josh’s skill set, his focus on quality and his ability to build strong relationships with internal and external parties, will strengthen DDB Design in creating a positive experience for everyone building a home.

Josh is a HIA committee member, a keen yachtsman and has competed in all major Australian yacht races including several Sydney to Hobarts. He also follows the Wallabies Rugby Union Team and the Essendon Football Club. 

On the weekend, Josh can be found supporting his two daughters at netball, basketball and gymnastics, or otherwise sailing and playing golf.

Josh is excited to be a part of the DDB Design team and to work at an award-winning company.

Construction Manager

LYLE GIBSON

Construction Manager

Lyle joined the DDB Design team in 2013 as a head carpenter, but his people skills and site proficiency quickly saw him promoted to Site Foreman and then to his current role as Construction Manager in 2015. Lyle now has over twenty years’ of experience in the building industry.

Lyle is responsible for all aspects of onsite building work including the management of all staff and trades. As the construction manager Lyle ensures that each project runs smoothly, efficiently and is delivered on time. Lyle has a passion for Architectural homes and understands the importance of detail in complex construction. Lyle is very committed to the client builder relationship and is very motivated to meet client expectations through an enjoyable process. Lyle also has First Aid training and a Certificate 3 in Occupational Health & Safety.

Lyle has had a long-playing career in AFL football but after finally hanging up the boots, he tries to go surfing whenever possible.

JULIA ROSS

Project Admnistrator

Julia completed a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Adelaide, and had a successful career as a product manager launching and supporting Colorbond and Clipsal building products.

Julia has long had a passion for residential building, having renovated several homes from 22 years of age. She decided to follow her dream to work in residential building. After completing a Diploma and Certificate IV in Building & Construction, Julia worked in Sydney as a contract administrator. Following Julia’s move to Melbourne, she joined DDB Design and is thrilled to be involved in the landmark projects DDB Design creates.

Julia’s boundless energy spills over to her homelife where she spends her time cuddling and running with her two dogs, doing yoga, listening to music, travelling, and skiing in Japan.

Site Manager

DAVE WILL

Site Manager

Dave joined the DDB Design team in early 2019 after managing sites for a high-end residential building company in London for seven years.

Dave’s interest in building started at a young age. He is a qualified carpenter who completed his apprenticeship in NZ and he proudly has over ten years’ experience in delivering high quality homes in both New Zealand and the UK. Dave has made the move to Australia to broaden his experience and, with Melbourne’s strong reputation for design, he looks forward to the exciting architectural opportunities that await him.

In his spare time Dave likes to go to live sports and music events, as well as travel and anything that finds him outdoors.

Site Foreman / Carpenter

WILL EDMONDS

Site Foreman / Carpenter

Will has had a passion for building from a young age and started his carpentry apprenticeship immediately after finishing secondary school.  After completing his apprenticeship in 2012, Will gained a broad range of building experience working as a carpenter for several established building companies.  He joined DDB Design mid 2017 to extend his knowledge and become a Site Foreman. Will is a keen sportsman and loves the outdoors, but his real passion is creating wonderful family homes.

ANDY SMITH

Site Foreman / Carpenter

Andy finished his carpentry apprenticeship in 2003 after working for a Bayside builder specialising in second story extensions and renovations.

A year after he finished his apprenticeship, he travelled around the US and Europe, settling in London where he worked directly for an architect who designed architectural office fit outs. When he was back on home soil, Andy continued to gain a broad depth of experience as a building supervisor across a variety of projects, both domestic and commercial.

Four years ago, he started up a children’s indoor play centre called the "Kid Factory" as a side project. Andy’s wife continues to actively run the play centre.

Andy also enjoys the outdoors, especially camping and surfing.

Carpenter

JOEL MANNING

Carpenter

Joel joined the team at DDB Design in 2010 after leaving his job as a motor mechanic. Loving the outdoors Joel decided to leave the garage and devote his time to learning every thing there is to know about carpentry and building luxury homes.

 With his apprenticeship complete some time ago, Joel brings his skills to the projects along with his very easy temperament. Joel has also obtained his Dogman Ticket and First Aid ticket.

MARK GLEDHILL

Apprentice Carpenter

Mark had an interesting beginning to his working life, within the golf industry. First, he travelled all around the world on international tours as a caddy. And then he was a fitness trainer for elite golfers around Australia.

In 2017, Mark decided to pursue new opportunities, changing industries to building. By 2018, Mark had joined DDB Design and hasn’t looked back. Mark proudly began his carpentry apprenticeship early this year and is looking forward to continuing to learn and develop his skills.

Mark still has a lot to do with golf and sport in general, including football and running. He also enjoys home renovations and anything to do with building and construction. Mark recently became a dad and enjoys spending time with his partner, daughter and family.

NIKOLAI HANDSJUK

Apprentice Carpenter

Nikolai (Nik) joined the DDB Design team in 2017 after working several years in the corporate sector as a Marketing Manager.  Nik has a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) degree but realized that the corporate world was not for him. So, he made the bold decision to pursue his passion for “hands-on” practical work. He is currently gaining experience with DDB Design as a builders labourer with the aim of starting a carpentry apprenticeship in 2018.  Nik is a keen sportsman with a background in gymnastics and acrobatics.

PATRICK CAHILL

Apprentice Carpenter

Patrick recently joined the DDB team after 3 years working in the transport industry. During this time, he completed a Certificate IV in logistic and supply chain management.

Patrick has always wanted to become a qualified carpenter, and he finally decided to pursue the opportunity to complete a carpentry apprenticeship through DDB. He is very excited to be a part of the DDB team and to learn all aspects of building beautiful homes.

He has a passion for surfing, camping and North Melbourne Football Club.
