EMAIL #205 -29TH JANURAY 2023 "DEVELOPING A RICH MIND."

Developing a Rich Mind.

Knowledge is the key resource of the mind.

25 years ago, I read my first “self-help book”, Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.  Unbeknown to me at the time, this book opened up a whole new world and sparked my curiosity. Reading this book was my first step towards developing a “rich mind” and I have been on a journey of self-improvement ever since.

One of the key topics in Kiyosaki’s ground-breaking book is the concept of the “rich-mind, poor-mind”. A rich mind is open and curious and has a thirst for knowledge. A poor mind is closed, restless and reluctant to take risks or tackle challenges.

“The mind that opens to a new idea never returns to its original size.” Albert Einstein

Developing a rich mind is all about creating your own life whilst having a poor mind limits your options and you end up just following other people’s lives on social media. Successful investing and growing your wealth rely on the fact that “it takes money to make money”. Developing a rich mind is similar because it takes knowledge to make knowledge.

The most valuable gift you can give your children is the gift of curiosity. That’s all it takes for them to become lifelong learners. What they are curious about does not matter. It’s their desire to learn that will give them a rich mind and a fulfilling life. Once you develop a rich mind it can only grow richer. It all starts with curiosity and a thirst for knowledge.

“All riches have their origin in the mind. Wealth is ideas – not money” Norman Vincent Peale.

The best way to tell if you currently have a rich mind or a poor mind is to answer the following three questions.

1.            Do you often feel bored?

2.            Do you often feel restless?

3.            Do you often have an urge to follow other people’s lives?

Stimulating your curiosity and developing a rich mind has never been easier. Everyone has free access to millions of books, podcasts, videos, webinars, and online courses. All it takes to enrich your mind is a desire to learn something new, then it’s all downhill from there.

“Rich minds plan for three generations.

Poor minds plan for Saturday night.” Unknown

Thanks for reading,

Stay safe and learn something new.

David
